Cardiff prepares to welcome folk-pop musician

The American singer/songwriter Nicole Atkins is on tour and is due to perform in Cardiff at the beginning of June.

Hailing from New Jersey, Atkins grew up listening to a combination of hair metal and Johnny Cash tracks. It was whilst attending college in North Carolina that Nicole started solo gigging. Subsequently, she relocated to play venues in New York's East Village.

She fuses traditional vocals with searching lyrics and is perhaps most widely recognised for her time with Nicole Atkins & The Sea. Critics have drawn comparisons with Roy Orbison and the Brill Building singers.

Nicole has released a host of singles and EPs as well as a total of six albums, including 'Neptune City', 'Mondo Amore', 'Slow Phases', 'Goodnight Ronda Lee' and 'Italian Ice'. According to Bandsintown, 'Italian Ice':
“wanders into shades of psych-rock and honky-tonk and girl group drama.”

Her most recent album 'Memphis Ice' was released in 2021.

The support on this occasion is provided by singer-songwriter Jim Sclavunos, a Grammy nominated multi-instrumentalist, producer and a member of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Tickets cost £14 but may be subject to a transaction fee. Poster printing can be effective when it comes to the promotion of a future concert or musical event.

Nicole Atkins's gig has a starting time of 7pm on Saturday, June 10 at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff.
