According to WalesOnline.com, the construction of Cardiff Parkway station comes in the context of the local City Deal, which will see a public investment totalling £1.2bn.
Arup, the developers behind the new station, said:
“The new Cardiff Parkway station will place new businesses within walking distance of mainline rail services to major cities including Cardiff Central, Newport, Bristol, Manchester and London.”
Cardiff Parkway is set to be located between Newport and Cardiff Central. This would result in shorter journey times between the two locations, and will facilitate longer journeys.
Local communities have not been neglected at the planning stage, despite the fact that the project does not include any residential aspect. The hope is that new walkways, buses and cycle paths will aid local people in getting around. In addition, new drop-off and parking facilities would be created to deliver station access.
Leisure space and office solutions will be created if the initiative receives the green light. The Plans suggest that about 5,000 jobs might come to the area if the whole development goes ahead.
