Holder Mathias has previous experience with Center Parcs, having earlier designed both the Whinfell Forest complex and the Woburn Forest one, and now it will create designs for the one being constructed near Ballymahon.
It is anticipated that the planning application will be lodged with the local council in the near future, with the centre due to open four years from now if approval is granted.
The site that has been chosen for the construction of the complex covers 375 acres and the finished structure will feature 500 lodges alongside an array of leisure facilities.
These will include a range of shops, restaurants and bars, bowling alley, sports hall and ‘subtropical swimming paradise’, within a beautiful forest setting that overlooks a lake.
Peter Gamble, one of Holder Mathias’ senior partners, told Wales Online that Center Parcs was among the UK’s most beloved leisure options and that the firm was delighted to be designing Ireland’s first one, adding:
“This exciting project builds on our experience at Woburn Forest, winner of the 2015 Best Hotel and Resort MIPIM Award in Cannes earlier this year.”
