The broadcaster and choirmaster Gareth Malone is on tour with his show Sing-along-a-Gareth, which is due to arrive in Cardiff at the beginning of November.
Malone describes himself as an “animateur, presenter and populariser of choral singing”. The public perhaps know him best for presenting programmes such as The Choir, which endeavoured to introduce singing and this distinctive musical form to a wider audience of choir novices.
Malone has been Patron of the Military Wives Foundation since its official inception in 2011. It was established to support popular choirs in garrisons all over the world that appeared following the success of the TV programme The Choir: Military Wives.
He is now celebrating his fifth nationwide tour, beginning this autumn. Backed by his band and a selection of singers, Malone will guide and entertain those attending through a journey of song. Playing guitar, piano and bass, he creates his music on the spot, talking to the audience and uncovering hidden singing talent amongst them.
This upbeat concert features many of the tracks from his television series over the previous 15 years, seeking to celebrate song and community spirit at once.
