Apartment block planned for Cardiff site

Developers want to build an apartment block on a Cardiff site.

A site in the middle of Cardiff could soon accommodate an apartment block if developers get their way. A total of 262 flats may be fitted into a 29-storey tower. Printing services can be handy in the property sector, particularly during the planning phase of the construction process.

The developer, Gallford Try, has yet to secure planning consent for its project. The site in question was once occupied by a music venue and a pair of restaurants. Demolition work has razed those buildings, although their facades remain.

Gallford Try has asked the planning department of Cardiff Council whether or not its scheme requires an assessment of its environmental impact. The developer thought this was a possibility because of the scale of its ambition.

The Council’s planning head has replied to the query of Gallford Try. The response, which has been made publicly available, explained that an environmental assessment was not necessary in this case. At the moment, there are limited details of the plan in the public domain, because the planning application has not yet been submitted.

Reports suggest the proposed building could become one of Cardiff’s tallest. This point, made by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, might have implications for whether or not the plan comes to fruition.
