Cardiff Airport is inviting bids from firms for its duty-free concession.
Established businesses with experience in the delivery of duty-free retail are being encouraged to apply for a concession inside the terminal at Cardiff Airport. More than 1.65 million people use the Welsh national airport each year, and almost 2,000 aviation-related jobs posts are now reliant on the transport hub.
Sarah Clifford, the head of the Commercial and Sales division, is keen to provide potential bidders for the duty-free concession with detailed information on request.
In 2013, Cardiff Airport was purchased by the government of Wales. Since then, significant efforts have been made to enhance the visitor experience.
Three years ago, the duty-free zone of the airport received a makeover. The refurbishment involved extending the area, but the transformation was about more than floor space – the format of the duty-free section was changed to give it an accessible style. This alteration enabled customers to view the different product categories more easily.
The beauty section of the zone served to welcome individuals into the space. Brands such as The Body Shop were of importance in this respect.
At the moment, World Duty Free is operating the tender under discussion. This arrangement developed after a separate organisation was acquired by the enterprise. Submissions for the concession must be handed in by December 20, and printing services can often help out in making such applications.
