A total of 15 townhouses and 50 apartments may be constructed on the Sanatorium Road site. If the scheme gets the green light, the ‘Milk & More’ facility shall be replaced. At the moment, there are not many industrial units in the vicinity.
The developer told Wales Online that:
“There is an unmet demand for affordable housing in this area of Cardiff. Proposals would regenerate a brownfield site to deliver a high quality, sustainable and affordable housing development to meet these needs.”
Consultation between the developer and the United Welsh Housing Association has already taken place. This process has led to a refinement of the plans. The idea is that the housing association will operate the accommodation, which should deliver a mix of special needs and general housing provision. Housing developers and associations often make use of brochure printing, displaying properties on offer to potential buyers.
According to the planning documentation, the initiative has required expertise. This is because it has been necessary to weigh up redevelopment options and market demand.
