Walthamstow welcomes festival for a night of contemporary art

The biggest free-of-charge art festival in London will be held in the Waltham Forest Borough this summer.

Art Night is a free festival for contemporary art. Its continuing mission each year is to place art in a unique and extraordinary area around the nation’s capital.

Director of Art Night, Zarina Rossheart, commented:

“Art Night Open represents a diverse cultural scene of London and beyond, with artists, curators and arts organisations contributing special projects in response to the celebratory spirit of the night-time festival”

Every year, the festival spotlights a new part of London, working to express its unique identity, architecture and culture. This year, the all-night event will take place in Walthamstow. Artists involved wishing to attract attention to their work can self-promote using colourful flyer printing.

The vibrant market culture of this London borough will be celebrated at the festival. Among other landmarks in the locale, art commissions will feature at the bustling thoroughfare that is Walthamstow High Street, along with Walthamstow Market, the longest outdoor market in Europe at approximately a kilometre in length.

On Art Night Walthamstow market will remain up and active out of its regular hours, and with various local organisations on board within the borough, it should prove a draw for visitors from outside showcasing the culture Walthamstow has to offer.

The event is set for June 2019, with an exact date yet to be announced.
