A brand-new theatre opening in Walthamstow next year is set to have a soft launch in November 2023.
Work on the Soho Theatre in Walthamstow is now anticipated to end this autumn with an official opening set for February. However, several soft launch events that are aimed at the local community are due to occur between this November and January next year, prior to the commencement of its formal programme.
New venues holding grand openings and unleashing new events often consult professional banner printing services to help them access eye-catching signage, which grabs the attention of local community members.
The new theatre’s opening will now mark the long-awaited close of a project that has been five years in the making. Since the first business case was drafted by Waltham Forest Council back in 2017, the economic benefit expected and the cost of refurbishment of the old EMD cinema where the theatre will open have increased by millions.
The local council originally projected the theatre would boost the area’s economy by somewhere between £34 and £52 million during the first ten years of operation. New estimates show a considerable improvement on the theatre’s “economic impact”, placing it between £46 and £61 million. This rise comes as welcome news, as the theatre is central to the council’s vision for the Waltham Forest town to turn itself into a “cultural quarter”.
