Celebrated artist exhibited at Village Window Gallery

Multi-talented artist Sally Taylor will present a selection of oil paintings in an exhibition in Walthamstow, entitled ‘Portraits’.

Although this exhibition focuses on Taylor’s oil paintings, the artist possesses a background in animation, film and theatre. In her successful career, she has designed and created costumes for animated characters and puppets as well as large scale prop costumes for Jim Henson’s Company and The National Theatre. Her costume design work for animation has been seen on the big screen in Wes Anderson’s ‘Isle of Dogs’ and in the popular first feature entry by Aardman Animation’s ‘Chicken Run’.

In her oil paintings Taylor aims to reveal both the “inner and outer beauty of her client”. The finished paintings are the final result of the individual journey taken for each of her subjects, which always begins with a photographic session to discover their unique characteristics.

The exhibition will be featured at the Village Window Gallery in Walthamstow. Artists exhibiting their collections can look to local Print shops to create promotional materials in order to promote their shows.

A work of art in itself, the Walthamstow gallery makes use of nine metres of Victorian era shop windows and was designed by creative director and artist Danny Coope.

The presentation of Taylor’s work will run from April 18 to May 12. A special preview evening will take place between 7pm and 9pm on April 25.
