Several libraries in west London are operating a service allowing them to lend Books to residents.
While the libraries themselves remain shut to comply with government guidelines, Hillingdon libraries are operating a new service as lockdown starts to ease.
Libraries based in Hillingdon including Oak Farm, Uxbridge and Hayes End are taking part in a dedicated service offering a click-and-collect option for those with library cards.
On its first day in operation, Hillingdon Council saw 131 library members test-drive the new system. Now people can pick up Books of their choosing for themselves, members of their households as well as relatives and neighbours.
Organisations and public institutions can sometimes inform people of new schemes using public notices with the help of professional Print shops. While no public entry is available to the library, avid readers can now collect Books from the foyer while practising social distancing.
Library staff are using masks, gloves, and hand sanitiser for safety. Books can be kept for six-week periods and returned using drop-off Boxes also in the foyer.
An additional service is also available delivering Books to the doors of those who are shielding or vulnerable at no charge. Hillingdon Council is currently awaiting instructions from the government about when its libraries will be able to resume normal operations.Get a Free Quote for Boxes Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Books
