Heathrow Airport looks to the future

The future of Heathrow Airport is being planned and is set to include the demolition of Terminal One.

Heathrow’s Terminal One was opened back in 1969 and it now faces gradual demolition as part of the expansion Plans of the transport hub. Stationery printers in Hayes could benefit from increased demand when the number of business passengers increases further.

Statistics showed that six million people used Heathrow Airport in a single month earlier in the year. This volume of travellers amounted to a jump of over 10% on the monthly figure recorded during the same period of 2016. The rise in the use of Heathrow can, in part, be explained by the provision of additional services. Travel to fresh destinations like Tehran is certainly making a difference.

John Holland-Kaye, the chief executive of Heathrow, is clear that a new runway is required. He has stated:

“Britain’s exports outside the EU are thriving and with Heathrow expansion opening up to 40 new long-haul trading links, the scale of the opportunity across the globe is tremendous. We’re working around-the-clock to deliver Britain’s new runway and secure the country’s future as a global trading powerhouse.”

A spokesperson for Heathrow has pointed out that small firms and large businesses are getting behind the expansion of the airport. This lobbying is reportedly being mirrored by support from politicians with different party affiliations. British workers should gain from the apprenticeships and job opportunities connected with the proposals.
