A film inspired by a beloved British movie for children will be screened in Hayes later this year.
Continuing the story from the original classic, the “Railway Children Return” will be shown on the big screen at the Hayes Beck Theatre. Cinemas and theatres showing motion pictures to the public sometimes enlist the aid of professional poster printing services to advertise upcoming titles outside and in their foyers.
While designed for a new generation of fans, the film features Jenny Agutter resuming her role of Roberta, that she originally played at age 17. She is joined by a cast that includes John Bradley, Tome Courtenay and Sheridan Smith.
Set in 1944, the film centres on the adventures of three evacuee children – Ted, Pattie, and Lily – when their mother sends them to the safety of Oakworth village in Yorkshire. Agutter and her daughter help them settle into rural life, but when they find an injured American soldier hidden in the railyard, they embark on a dangerous quest to aid him.
The Railway Children Return is rated U and will be screened at the Beck Theatre on Grange Road in Hayes on Monday, September 12 at 7:30 pm. General admission to the film is charged at £7:50 per person with concessions available at £7. Premiere Members of the theatre can pick up tickets for just £5 each.
