South Birmingham welcomes Lonelady

Julie Campbell (who also goes by the name Lonelady) is due to play a gig in South Birmingham in mid-January, along with some special guests.

This singer/songwriter, musician and producer hails from Manchester. She took her inspiration from British post-punk and began to make recordings at the start of the 2000s on cassette. She did this while living in a tower block and studying for a Fine Arts degree.

The self-taught musician can play a selection of instruments that includes bass, guitar, drum machines and synth, and has subsequently learnt the cello. She writes all the pieces and performs all the instruments herself on recordings, with the exception of the drums.

Her debut album "Nerve Up" was released in 2010 to much critical acclaim and the follow up "Hinterland", which came out in 2015, also received a warm reception. "Former Things" is now the artist's third studio album, released just a few months ago, and was preceded with a new track titled “(There Is) No Logic” on Warp Records. Commenting on the single, she says:

“It just really encapsulates so many cool electro sounds and even some R’n’B vocal stylings.”

Tickets cost £13.20 inclusive of a booking fee. Print shops can be useful when it comes to solo musical artists and bands seeking to promote their work.

Lonelady's gig has a starting time of 7:30 pm on Monday, January 17 at The Hare & Hounds in South Birmingham.
