South Birmingham to welcome electronic folk

Electronic folk artist The Pictish Trail, also known as Johnny Lynch, is on tour and due to play a gig in South Birmingham towards the end of March.

Lynch is a Scottish singer-songwriter who has been described as having ignored the traditional blueprint for success to follow own his star. This has led to the creation of a catalogue of distinctive recordings on private labels such as Fence Records and Lost Map.

In 2008, he released 'Secret Soundz Vol.1', and in 2013 'Vol, 2'. These ended up as a critically received double album of electronic DIY folk-pop. Lynch then went into seclusion for several years on the Isle of Eigg.

The psychedelic follow-up was 'Future Echoes', released in 2016, and it won the 2017 Scottish Album of the Year on a public vote. This sent Lynch on a two-year cycle of touring, notably in support of British Sea Power, Belle and Sebastian and KT Tunstall, as well as appearing at many festivals, including Glastonbury.

Lynch’s latest album, 'Island Story', is due for release to coincide with the tour, and attendees will likely hear many tracks from the new record. Tickets cost £14 plus a booking fee. Flyer printing can be an effective way of advertising a forthcoming musical event such as this.

The Pictish Trail's gig has a starting time of 7.30pm on Tuesday, 22nd March at The Hare & Hounds, South Birmingham.
