South Birmingham to host Sustainable Development Goals Workshop

The University of Birmingham is hosting the Festival of Science in November and as part of this, it will be holding a workshop that aims to bring sustainable development to a younger audience and to encourage thinking about targets.

Youth acts as the motor behind economies - developing markets; providing future political leaders as well as the business people of tomorrow and it is the next generation who will have to deal with the impact of climate change.

This event is designed for Year 13 students in the West Midlands area. The themes explored will include sustainable transport, consumption and role-playing for future decision-makers. The aim is to facilitate students’ critical thinking abilities, including reflection on their own actions as well as those of others.

The objective is to make Agenda 2030 targets better understood by youth to enable them to consider ways to realise these goals. Different approaches to learning such as Posters, videos and other interactive IT methods will be utilised. Those attending participate through small groups, developing scenarios around future sustainable development goals (SDG). It also gives an opportunity for exchanging views and to question business people and academics.

Dr Nana O Bonsu or Dr Jennifer TyreeHageman will be the key speakers at the event. Poster Printing can be used to attract audiences to events such as this.

The Festival of Science, 2019: SDGs Workshop will be held between 9:30am and 2:30pm on Wednesday 6th November at the University of Birmingham, South Birmingham.
