The strategy was launched in Longbridge at St John the Baptist Church. It is all about prompting individuals to enjoy healthier lifestyles through exercise, nutrition and green travel such as cycling. It started earlier this year and could be boosted further if a Print company was used for promotional purposes.
Anne Dasgupta, a Family Learning Coordinator for the Ecocentre in Northfield, told the Bromsgrove Standard:
“With regard to the cycling, it’s about getting people to be more confident and hopefully they will maybe even change their transport habits.”
The initiative isn’t just about supporting green travel, healthy exercise and sensible diets. It is also concerned to get people to grow organic food. A family garden has already been set up between Northfield and Longbridge and is being used to help residents learn about gardening techniques. Preschool children and adults have both been given the opportunity to participate in weekly sessions.
Several community centre representatives have engaged with the campaign. This enthusiasm has led to the provision of several extra cycle rides. South Birmingham’s cycle paths, like those in Balaams Wood, will get more visitors as a result.
Sport Birmingham is also on board. The organisation is determined to attract volunteers in order to help people to get fit. One aim is to promote running in schools. Furthermore, Sport Birmingham is putting on a variety of relevant workshops.Get a Free Quote for Print
