South Birmingham awaits the arrival of music pioneers

The pop group 'My Life Story' is on tour, and due to play a gig in South Birmingham towards the end of February.

Led by singer-songwriter Jake Shillingford, the group was founded in 1980s Southend, delivering epic pop sounds and fun lyrics. They become Britpop pioneers, with six UK top 40 tracks and one top 40 album, as well as a leading orchestral band.

The early 90s saw MLS expand to an 11-piece outfit including brass and strings, while 'Mornington Crescent', their debut album, was recorded by Beatles producer Giles Martin.

In 1996, they signed to the record label Parlophone, releasing the album 'The Golden Mile' that featured the hit single '12 Reasons Why I Love Her'. The band has collaborated with Morrissey, appeared at Glastonbury and supported big names such as Pulp and Blur.

By 2001, My Life Story was no longer recording or touring, but began to appear again in 2016 as a more streamlined, alternative rock outfit. The fan-sponsored ‘World Citizen’ came out in 2019, and with a tour pencilled in and a new album set for 2024, they recently released a single titled 'I'm a God'.

Tickets cost £19.25 inclusive of a transaction fee. Brochure printing can be an effective way form of promotion for those engaged in the music industry.

My Life Story's gig has a starting time of 7.30pm on Thursday 22 February at Hare & Hounds, Birmingham.
