A well-being hub has recently been opened in eastern Redditch. Liz Williams, who is behind the project, has said:
“Having The Space will transform what we are able to do. We're all about working with people, we don't do things to people, we don't push them beyond their pace, we grow people.”
Bill Hartnett, from the local authority, has expressed the opinion that the hub is more than a conventional community centre. He has emphasised that the well-being unit will be a place where ideas are shared in an innovative fashion.
Various community groups will meet at the centre. Residents, from the Winyates district of Redditch and from neighbouring places, will have the opportunity to attend cookery classes and Tai Chi sessions. Healthy eating tips and money advice will also be made accessible. A support group for people affected by poor mental health can use the building too. Local doctor Richard Davies is aware that poor health is frequently caused by social conditions and he has made clear his backing for the project.
The shop unit that has been transformed into the hub had not been used for more than two decades. Hence the development has already had an immediate impact on the local environment.
The Redditch Partnership may use flyer printing in South Birmingham to advertise the services which have been made available.
