The idea behind the scheme is that there can be a step change in the local skill set. It has been revealed that discussions about potential delivery of the Plans are in progress, and if all goes well, there may be an increased need for printing services within South Birmingham.
Bill Hartnett, the council leader for the borough, has told the Redditch Standard:
“We want to see an engineering academy and skills centre in Redditch because we need them in the town. The Midlands is the manufacturing heart of the country and we are right at the centre of it.”
Councillor Hartnett has explained that development in the region is likely to spur job creation. He has mentioned the plan for an Eastern Gateway in this particular context. According to him, this policy should mean that there is demand for skilled workers who do not have to possess a graduate education.
Hartnett has stressed the importance of the existing connection between the council and the Heart of Worcester College. However, he has revealed that conversations with private firms who could contribute to the initiative have not yet been concluded.
Initially, the strategy was given momentum by the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership.Get a Free Quote for Plans
