William Randall, a teenager who has survived a fight against eye cancer, has given his support to a fundraiser based around the fashions of the 1970s.
The youth was only a baby when one of his eyes was lost to retinoblastoma, a rare variety of cancer. Despite this, Randall took part in an event at Vision Express earlier this month. This occasion used the theme of the 1970s to get the attention of shoppers, with staff putting on relevant fancy dress to stimulate public interest. Sweets based on the period and goody Bags were also distributed to people.
It has been reported that in excess of £200 was donated to the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) as a consequence, and CHECT now wants to hit a target of £1,000, perhaps meaning that the use of leaflets and a printing company in South Birmingham could be strategic.
The store manager of the Redditch Vision Express, Joanne Morris, has stated that the collection was a large one for a single day. Her company donated over £100,000 to CHECT in 2013.
The chief executive of CHECT, Joy Felgate, has said:
"We are extremely grateful for everything Vision Express does to help raise awareness of eye cancer in children and much needed funds to enable us to continue this vital work."
