UK event organisers have voted that Birmingham is the premier British site for business tourism outside the capital.
In the Business Meetings & Event Industry Survey (BMEIS) for 2015, Birmingham proved more popular than rivals like Cardiff and Manchester. If event organisers continue to think well of the city then this should lead to more demand for printing companies within South Birmingham. Emma Gray, a marketing director at Marketing Birmingham, said:
“Birmingham has established itself as a welcoming and respected events destination for local, national and international organisers, highlighted by the latest rankings of this influential, industry-wide survey.”
Ms. Gray added that Birmingham has not become complacent. The authorities have enabled investment to flow into connectivity and infrastructure. The regeneration of New Street railway station was completed in 2015. Ms. Gray has said that 2016 will see further enhancements to what the city has to offer.
The survey was informed by the behaviour of about 500 event specialists. These British professionals were drawn from the not-for-profit sector and the corporate sector.
Birmingham outperformed its provincial competitors by scoring well in a range of areas. Industry experts focus on questions like affordability, access and location when picking somewhere for an event.
Research suggests that events brought about £36 million to Birmingham in 2015. Over 20 events were reportedly brought in to the city by a local marketing body.
