Sheffield presents poetry evening

An event that combines a poetry reading with plenty of humour is heading to a respected entertainment venue in Sheffield this spring.

Citizens of Sheffield interested in an evening that seamlessly slips between the hilarious and the intelligent, can attend an upcoming event. Poets Jan Brierton and Henry Normal are bringing their two-person show to the city for a springtime visit and admission is now available to book in advance.

Normal will read poems from his latest book entitled “An Alphabet of Storms”. Amateur and professional poets alike often collaborate with expert printing services to create collections of their work that suit a specific image or style.

A poet, writer, and film and television show producer, Normal has collaborated with many famous comedians as a co-writer including Caroline Aherne (Mrs Merton Show) and Steve Coogan (Coogan’s run, Paul Calf Video Diaries). He also co-wrote and co-created season one of The Royle Family.

Brierton is a Dublin-born poet whose works centre on her personal experiences as a retired raver, mother, wife, sister and daughter.

Henry Normal and Jan Brierton will appear live on stage at The Steamworks on Friday, April 17. The event gets underway from 6:30 pm and finishes up at 10 pm. The venue is at 109-111 Randall Street in Highfield, Sheffield and tickets are £20.95 per person. The show is appropriate for audiences of age 16 and above.
