Town hall in Redditch could become community centre
Redditch Town Hall looks set to be transformed into a multiple-use centre for the local community, with plans for this now moving ahead at a rapid pace.
Those behind them have now submitted a planning application to Redditch Borough Council, marking the next stage in the progression of the project. This application is seeking permission to construct twin extensions to the existing building, as well as carry out other refurbishment work needed to turn it into a hub for people living in the town.
Furthermore, a number of organisations have already set up shop within the building. Among them are drug and alcohol support service Cranstoun and Citizens Advice, as well as Healthy Minds, a group run by the NHS.
If the plans are given the go-ahead by the council, these existing services could be joined by Redditch Library. The site that currently houses the library would then be turned into a plaza with leisure and retail amenities.
Community hubs such as the one that is being proposed here often benefit from other local outlets like Redditch shops that provide brochure printing, which enable them to offer leaflets detailing their different services.
