Theatre in Potters Bar to stage Evita

Fans of musical theatre in the Potters Bar area are in for a treat later this year, with the news that an amateur staging of the famed Evita show will be presented by Potters Bar Theatre Company.

The show features lyrics written by Tim Rice and music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It is inspired by the life of Eva Peron, the political leader from Argentina and spouse of Juan Peron, the former president. The company, which is based at the town’s Wyllyotts Theatre, has already embarked upon rehearsals for the show.

It covers a large section of the life of Peron, from her early days in poverty through to her later years of status, power and wealth, during which she was described as Argentina’s spiritual leader. The musical has proven to be a long-running hit, having won over 20 prestigious theatrical awards since its original release and spawning a film adaptation during the 1990s.

One of the reasons for this success is the memorable songs it features – which include Another Suitcase in Another Hall, You Must Love Me, On This Night of a Thousand Stars and Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.

The Potters Bar Theatre Company’s staging of the show runs from the 22nd to the 26th of November and venues like this often rely on full colour printing, to provide eye-catching Posters.
