Potters Bar to get new retail outlet

A fresh Argos store shall open within Potters Bar prior to the end of the month.

The new retail outlet will be located on a site at Darkes Lane. The Argos shall be accessible from the last Saturday in April. Letterheads from Potters Bar can be useful for enterprises which are coming into the area. A spokesperson for the business told the Welwyn Hatfield Times:
“We are delighted to be bringing Argos and Sainsbury’s together under one roof, offering customers a convenient way to shop for both groceries and Argos products. Customers will be able to find 20,000 Argos products in the Potters Bar store, with another 40,000 products available with four hour same-day Fast Track collection and delivery services.”

The precise economic impact of the development is unclear. Nonetheless, it is thought that the move should create approximately 14 jobs. The idea is that the existing click-and-collect service will be replaced.

Sainsbury’s completed its Argos takeover back in 2016. This bold move involved spending significantly more than £1 billion. Since then, the major supermarket has added Argos shops to its retail empire.

In Potters Bar, the opening could deliver impetus to the local economy. According to entrepreneurs, allegedly high business rates have been holding back high street progress. Complaints have also been made about the size of the retail offer in the vicinity.
