Potters Bar puts on a Dreamcoat

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, presented by Green Room Productions, is due to be presented in Potters Bar at the beginning of February.

This is an amateur production of one of the most popular and enduring of stage musicals. The story is based on the biblical tale of Joseph, Jacob's favourite son, who is sold as a slave by his jealous brothers. It is then that he encounters Potiphar, an Egyptian noble.

Joseph rejects approaches from Potiphar's wife and as a consequence ends up in jail. Here, he realises that he can interpret dreams, which leads to an appearance before the Pharaoh. His solution for ending famine in Egypt subsequently convinces the Pharaoh to appoint the young man as a key advisor.

With music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, it combines genres like calypso with country and western ballads, as well as rock. The show includes numbers that are now pop standards, such as 'Close Every Door to Me', 'There's More Than One Angel In Heaven' and 'Any Dream Will Do'.

Tickets cost £18 for an adult and £15 for a child. Banner printing can be a useful way of publicising a forthcoming local theatrical or musical event.

The show will run from Tuesday, February 1 to Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Wyllyotts Theatre, Potters Bar.
