Potters Bar looks forward to musical

The musical Sunshine on Leith, presented by Green Room Productions, is due to take to the stage in Potters Bar at the beginning of May.

Sunshine on Leith was originally created by Stephen Greenhorn for Dundee's Rep Ensemble, and it features the music of Scottish pop duo The Proclaimers. First performed in 2007, it won the TMA Award for Best Musical and has since been on tour, with a film version released in 2013.

The musical tells the story of two soldiers and close friends, Davy and Ally, who return home from the war in Afghanistan. After their initial excitement, they find civilian life difficult when confronting the challenges posed by family, work and relationships. In addition, the 30-year marriage of Rab and Jean, Davy's parents, is seriously shaken by an old family secret.

The show includes performances of songs such as "I’m On My Way," "I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)", "Letter From America" and, of course, the theme song, "Sunshine On Leith".

Tickets range in price from £18 to £22 and are subject to availability. Graphic design often plays an important role in the staging of performances conducted by amateur theatre groups, as well as professional theatrical productions.

Sunshine On Leith is set to run from Tuesday, 3rd May to Friday, 6th May at Wyllotts Theatre, Potters Bar.
