This project is set to cost a total of £1.9 million to complete and will see a variety of amenities added to the site, which used to be home to Splashlands. The new site will include a brand new adventure golf course and wet splash pad. Other ideas being considered are new public toilets and a facility that will provide refreshments.
A spokeswoman from the council told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that:
“This will help to vary the leisure offer and to complement the adjacent ropes course, Vertigo Adventures. All new facilities will, of course, be subject to the council’s formal approval.”
She went on to add that additional work needed to be undertaken prior to the board for the Splashlands Project receiving the final report so that it could fully consider the proposal. This report would then be referred to the cabinet.
Local parents have long been arguing that Splashlands should be replaced, with this facility having closed its doors over two decades ago. A previous council plan fell through three years ago.
