The two Potters Bar green spots to be honoured with awards were Parkfield and Oakmere Park, with the remaining four awards going to locations in Bushey and Boreham Wood, in the same area of Hertfordshire.
The Green Flag awards recognise spaces that are particularly well maintained, making the wins a real feather in the cap for the borough. Local councils often seek to promote accolades of this kind by advertising them on Flyers, ensuring that flyer printing in Potters Bar and other towns in Hertsmere could be called on for this purpose.
In accepting the awards, David Smith, parks manager, offered thanks to those involved for the work carried out. He said:
“We are so proud of our green flags and couldn’t do it without the hard work and dedication of our amazing team, contractors, Hertsmere Leisure, which manages our parks events, and especially the community groups involved.”
