Donation made to Potters Bar celebration

Organisers of the annual carnival in Potters Bar have received a donation of £200 towards this year’s event from a local supermarket.

The branch of Sainsbury’s located on Darkes Lane in the town is responsible for the donation, and this supermarket will also be serving as a major sponsor for the event.

It is seeking other companies to sign up as sponsors alongside it, with the manager of the store, Paul Stephens, stating that supporting the carnival represented part of the store’s commitment to the town, adding:

“The Potters Bar Carnival plays a massive part in the community and we just wanted to help out as much as we could.”

One member of the carnival’s committee, Peter Weaver, explained that they were all grateful to the Sainsbury’s store for providing them with this money, as well as for deciding to continue sponsoring the event for a second successive year.

Those behind the carnival will also be able to call on the support of other local businesses, such as those that provide full colour printing in Potters Bar, as they are able to provide lively Banners, Posters and other materials needed to make it a success.

This year’s event will feature live musical performances and floats, and will follow a route through the town that goes from Canada Life to Elm Court. It is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 7th June.
