New food waste recycling bins have been given out across the area but some residents have reported that since this happened, their cardboard waste has not been collected. The council said this could be down to an issue with cardboard being accepted for recycling at its Potters Bar plant.
Councillor Simon Grover spoke about the issue, saying:
"It’s certainly having a lot of teething problems, particularly over cardboard. People are saying it’s not being collected.”
The council, residents and the owners and workers at the recycling plant want to ensure that as much waste is recycled as possible, so a solution for this issue is being looked into.
In the meantime, however, local authorities may benefit from sending out a communication to residents, explaining what should go in which bin and why; to avoid further confusion whilst the issue is being resolved.
Many Print companies in Potters Bar offer services like flyer and leaflet printing as these materials provide a simple and cost-effective way to get a message out into the public domain.
Initially, leaflets were sent out with the food waste recycling containers, but it seems that further communications may be required to ensure that residents are clear on what should and can be recycled.
