The Oxford Book Fair runs annually and it attracts a number of visitors to Oxford Brookes University from all walks of literary life; including book collectors, traders and literature enthusiasts. This year's fair promises an exciting array of exhibits; offering everything from rare treasures to humorous literature.
Peter Hill, who organises the book fair each year, has run book shops in Oxford for many years. He spoke about the rare items that will be on display, saying:
“The Oxford Book Fair now has a very good following after switching to Oxford Brookes five years ago and we expect well over 1,000 people to turn out. Last year a rare first edition of Ian Fleming’s James Bond debut Casino Royale was sold for about £25,000 after it was featured at the fair. Another highlight this year will be a manuscript signals book used at the Battle of Trafalgar.”
As well as unusual Books, first editions and historic manuscripts, the book fair is also set to showcase rare British Railway paraphernalia; much of which was produced using techniques like poster printing.
The Oxford Book Fair is set to be held on 20th April at the Gypsy Lane campus of Oxford Brookes University. More information and the fair's opening times can be found can be found on the Oxford Book Fair's official website.
