The Circular Collective is a community action group and the members hope that people in other cities around the globe take note of its initiative and start up similar schemes.
Those belonging to the group use their bicycles to pick up the various donations from people in the city and then ferry them to Oxford’s recycling centres, charity shops and community projects.
The idea came from Alexandra Mates, who is the chairwoman of the group, and she told a reporter from the Oxford Mail:
“It’s promoting a more sustainable community and lifestyle and it’s supporting and feeding charities so they have more resources and increase their social impact.”
She went on to add that Oxford had proved to be the ideal city to start such a scheme in, due to the healthy culture of cycling that exists there.
The Circular Collective was launched by Mates at the end of last year, after she relocated to the city, but it subsequently enjoyed an official launch this year, in Restore’s Garden Café.
Community organisations within the city, such as this one, can use places supplying newsletter printing, to keep their members informed about any upcoming events that they have planned.
