Oxford to meet the ancestors

"Ancestors: An Evening With Alice Roberts", as part of a seven-date tour, is due to stop off in Oxford at the beginning of November.

Dr. Roberts takes her audience on a journey through time to reconnect with the origins of Britain's ancestry. The show is timed to coincide with the publication of her new book, also titled “Ancestors”.

During the talk, she will endeavour to explore the history behind Britain’s inhabitants by applying her knowledge and skill to answer some complex and difficult questions about the past, drawing upon her decades of experience as a historian, educator, archaeologist and well-known broadcaster.

The 48-year-old examines the earliest people from seven burial sites using the latest technology in order to analyse their DNA. This helps to explain population movements to and from the island, and the long-forgotten memories of migrations contained within genes and retained in such ancient locations.

Her book is a story of science, ancient times and basic detective work, and is an exploration of the interconnected world of ancestry and human experiences, stretching back millennia.

Tickets range in price from between £29.70 to £46.20 inclusive of a booking fee. Promotional Products can be useful when it comes to publicising a book launch.

The presentation has a starting time of 8:00 pm on Monday, November 1 at The Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford.
