The band’s name originally came from a Steely Dan song, with its sound influenced by the creativity of Bruce Springsteen. Fronted by singer-songwriter Ricky Ross, and with a career spanning 25 years, Deacon Blue has had five albums in the top five, including two in the number one position, as well as album sales totalling seven million. The group also has 14 hit singles and 18 singles in the top 40, having 80s chart success with tracks such as Chocolate Girl and Real Gone Kid. Deacon Blye has steadily produced new material, notably The Hipsters and Believers, to critical acclaim.
The group released a new album in 2020 entitled City of Love. According to promotional material, the new music is based on the belief that:
“Even in the corners of a town or a life where no light falls, hope can prevail.”
This has seen the band return to popular radio airplay and to performing on stage.
Tickets for Deacon Blue’s Oxford performance cost £36, plus a booking fee. Banner printing can be a useful way of publicising a forthcoming concert or musical event like this.
