The Modern Art Oxford is set to exhibit the celebrated artist Kiki Smith’s first solo exhibition in the United Kingdom in almost 25 years.
Born in Nuremberg Germany 1954, Smith now works and lives in the city of New York. This retrospective show was created in close collaboration with the acclaimed artist and is entitled ‘I am a Wanderer’.
Works from several time periods of Smith’s career created in a variety of different mediums will be exhibited at the Modern Art Oxford, situated on Pembroke Street.
Three main areas of the artist’s work will be the exhibition’s focus. These are the small and perfectly realised sculptures crafted from the mid-80s up to the present, samples of her printmaking, and the large-scale Jacquard tapestries composed since 2012.
Galleries can employ Print shops to create pamphlets offering background information to visitors.
The human body is the subject for Smith’s sculptures and can be seen depicting emotional themes in bronze, glass and porcelain. In contrast, the artist’s tapestries shown will tackle the natural world and are adorned with a wealth of unusual materials. Stars, sea creatures, birds and plants can be seen in precious metals, glass and ink throughout these works.
Kiki Smith’s ‘I am a Wanderer’ exhibition will be on show from 28 September 2019 to 19 January 2020.Get a Free Quote for Print
