The University of Oxford Student Company is due to give a series of performances of its production of 'Into the Woods'. These will take place in the city at the end of January and the beginning of February.
It reimagines a collection of fairy tales and follows a host of well-known characters on their quests. Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk, among others, all have wishes that they are eager to see fulfilled.
Each journey is interlinked, and when the wishes are realised, it results in some unexpected consequences. Everyone appears to be happy, but their decisions come to haunt them. Jack’s beanstalk leads to the appearance of an angry giant, which results in the characters having to unite to save themselves and the kingdom.
Stephen Sondheim's renowned Broadway musical, the winner of both Tony and Olivier awards, was conceived by and is based on John LaPine's book. It explores the themes of family, hope and the grey areas between good and evil.
The University of Oxford students' Peach Productions company presents a distinctive and visionary interpretation of the musical.
Tickets cost £14, and £12 for students. Banner printing can be effective when it comes to the promotion of a stage or theatrical event.
'Into the Woods' will run from Wednesday, 29 January to Saturday, 1 February at Oxford Playhouse.
