Oxford residents to benefit from printing workshops

Oxford residents have been invited to fall in love with Print in the run up to Valentine’s Day as a local museum Plans to host a series of printing workshops to help people create their own Valentine’s cards.

The Story Museum on Pembroke Street in Oxford is set to host Print workshops on two set Tuesday evenings in January and February. In these Print workshops, people will be able to learn how to carry out traditional printing techniques such as manual printing by hand.

The printing course is being run by Dr Paul Nash, who is the specialist in the field of Print at the Bodleian Library. Dr Nash spoke about the workshop, saying:

“If you have printed something yourself it is obviously more personal it is much closer to you, you have made it with your own hands.”

Participants will be able to create and take home a very personal Valentine’s card that they have hand-crafted using full colour printing. Oxford locals are being encouraged to take part in the workshops as a way to foster community spirit through craft in the region. There is a real trend for hand-made craft gifts at the moment and this workshop is a way to explore why this trend is so popular.

The Valentine’s card printing workshop is being held at the Oxford Story Museum on Tuesday 29th January and Tuesday 29th February 2013. More information on the workshops is available by contacting the museum directly.
