Oxford looks forward to some seasonal folk

The Furrow Collective is embarking on its "We Know By The Moon" tour which is due to arrive in Oxford at the beginning of December.

They are an English/Scottish four-piece outfit that got together nine years ago, because of a common interest in the folk songs and ballads of England and Scotland. The band presents a transparent and innovative approach towards musical collaborations.

The band consists of four individually talented performers, Lucy Farrell on viola and vocals, Rachel Newton on harp, violin and vocals, Emily Portman on banjo, concertina and vocals, and Alasdair Roberts on guitars and vocals.

The Furrow Collective was the recipient of the BBC Radio 2's Folk Awards Best Group accolade in 2017. This came following the release of their 2016 album, Wild Hog, on the Hudson Records label.

We Know By The Moon is a special show, a selection of musical stories and seasonal songs as a celebration of this dark and distinctive time of year. According to BBC Radio 2, they have "an air of immeasurable antiquity, while at the same time making the songs vibrantly new.'.

Tickets range in price from £12 to £22, inclusive of a booking fee. Promoters should consider the value of printing services when planning a forthcoming concert or musical event.

The Furrow Collective's show has a starting time of 7.30pm on Friday 9th December at Holywell Music Room, Oxford.
