The Monochrome Set, a post-punk/new wave outfit, are currently on tour and due to play a gig in Oxford at the end of July.
The original band got together in 1978 in London. Today they feature founding member Bid (Guitar/Vocals) and Andy Warren (bass) along with Athen Ayren (keyboards).
An important influence on the 'post-punk' music world, their first releases appeared on the famous Rough Trade and Din Disc labels. Although, a number of albums including notably, Eligible Bachelors, came out on the Cherry Red imprint.
The Monochrome Set broke up in 1985 but reformed on a handful of occasions. This was for studio work as well as live performances with their albums now extending beyond single figures. After another long break of more than a decade or so, in 2010 the band finally reunited on a full-time basis.
They then toured the UK, Europe, America and the Far East, releasing new, well-received albums, seven in total. This is their 43rd year which coincides with the promotion of their latest offering, titled Allhallowtide.
Peerless Pirates are the support band.
