Oxford awaits a Commotion

Lloyd Cole, as part of his 'From Rattlesnake to Guesswork' UK tour, is due to perform a gig in Oxford early in February.

This singer/songwriter arrived on the pop scene with his band the Commotions in 1984. The hits 'Forrest Fire' and 'Perfect Skin' came off their successful debut album 'Rattlesnakes'. In a period of only 18 months, they stopped playing Glasgow clubs and started playing stadiums.

Hits such as 'Brand New Friend" and 'Lost Weekend' resulted in the second LP 'Easy Pieces' reaching the top of the album charts worldwide. Then there was just one final album, 'Mainstream', and one final hit, 'Jennifer She Said', before it all ended in 1989.

Lloyd Cole subsequently began his solo career and continued to release records, but withdrew from the rock/pop scene to perform acoustically. His 2013 album, 'Standards', with its energetic electric rock'n'roll sound, was critically acclaimed.

He was again on TV and set about forming a new band with The Leopards (Campbell Owens and Mick Slaven) and ex Commotions keyboards player Blair Cowan. Cole released his latest album 'Guesswork' in 2019.

Tickets range in price from £27.50 to £46.75 inclusive of a booking fee. Promotional Products can be a useful way of publicising a local business, musical or community event.

Lloyd Cole's gig has a starting time of 7:30 pm on Friday, February 4 at St. John the Evangelist, Oxford.
