Canal Mills used to be a textile mill and has been part of the Leeds landscape since the 1800s. It was then converted into the popular nightclub called Canal Mills that closed down two years ago, but now the building is set to be redeveloped as part of a project that will see 148 homes created – with these being a mixture of houses and flats.
Rhodes Asset Management is the company behind this project and it has stated that there will be 63 houses built, 28 of them with three bedrooms and 35 with two. The remaining 85 homes will be flats, some with one bedroom and others with two.
Graphic design outlets in the area can help housing developers create pictures showing what their planned new developments will look like after they are built.
According to Leeds Live, the planning documents say that:
“The proposal aims to create a high density mixed-use development of very high quality. Apartments are located on the canal frontage, to maximise views where possible.”
There will also be around 150 spaces for vehicle parking provided, as well as cycle shops for bike users.
