Musical inspired by Abba to play in Leeds

A successful and long-running jukebox musical based on the music of Abba will be coming to Leeds towards the end of this year, as part of its 20th anniversary tour.

Since it had its first performance two decades ago, Mamma Mia has become a worldwide phenomenon and even been adapted into two hit movies. The show tells the story of a woman who lives on an island in Greece and finds that all three of the possible fathers of her daughter have turned up for her wedding.

Now the show is set to play in Leeds, with the city’s Grand Theatre to serve as the venue. It is sure to be a night to remember for all fans of Abba, as well as those who just love an evening full of comedy and classic tunes. Mamma Mia is studded throughout with hits by the Swedish pop band and over 65 million people around the world have seen it, with the musical having been translated into 16 languages. Only eight shows in the history of Broadway have run for longer, with Mamma Mia playing at theatres there for 14 successive years.

It will be at the Leeds Grand Theatre on 24th and 25th November.
