What's Happening in Leeds, England…

Listed building in Leeds could be restored

A listed building in Leeds that is currently lying derelict could be set for restoration, with the news that revised plans for converting it into flats have been submitted to the council.

Cliff House was built back in the 19th century and is situated on Fawcett Lane, in the Wortley district of Leeds. The villa, which holds Grade II listed status, was severely damaged by fire just over three years ago and all that is left of it are the external walls. Now, local developer Priestley Homes is hoping to renovate the interior of the villa and turn it into flats.

According to West Leeds Dispatch, the statement that it submitted to the council as part of its application says:

“The costs of refurbishing the building and the Government’s promotion of the efficient use of land, have led the proposal towards eight apartments instead of seven as previously approved.”

The building had previously been converted into a block containing seven flats prior to the fire and if these reworked plans are given the nod, the roof space would be used to house the additional apartment. Brochure printing supplied by Leeds print shops can be used to show off new flats when they are finished.

The plans would also see more parking spaces added in front of the building and an extension built at the back.
