Leeds to host womens rugby league competition

One of the biggest events in women’s rugby league will be returning this summer, and Leeds is set to once again be the host city for it.

The Women’s Nines Festival features the finest sides in the game competing against each other in a thrilling knockout format. It is coming back this year, but in a slightly revised fashion. Instead of being spread across several days, the tournament and the finals will now take place on the same day. West Park Leeds will be serving as the venue for the tournament.

Last time around, it was won by Wigan Warriors – and that team went through the entire tournament without losing a match. They have already reached the final of the Challenge Cup this year, and will hope to defend their Nines crown in Leeds.

Live sporting events of this sort can be very popular with local people, but they have to be advertised. Poster printing carried out by Leeds Print shops is one of the ways that can be achieved.

The Development Officer for the RFL, Mikayla Gillespie, told Rugby League.com that:
“The Nines is about more than just sport, it’s a space where our women’s teams can showcase their talent, enjoy themselves, and connect with the community in a unique and meaningful way.”

It will also feature live music and is scheduled to be held on 5th July.
