Leeds hospital designs unveiled

Early designs for two hospitals that are set to be built in Leeds are being unveiled to the general public, after Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust settled on an architect for the projects.

The Trust has chosen Perkins and Will to design the two hospitals, one of which will be a brand new facility for the treatment of adult patients. The other will involve the building of a revamped Leeds Children’s Hospital at a new site within the existing General Infirmary.

The Trust selected this firm of architects after the previous company, which was chosen after an international competition, failed to work out. Organisations like this often look to local places that offer Graphic Design Services, so they can show off designs for planned projects.

Initial drawings of the two hospitals include considerable greenery, as well as impressive views from the buildings. The Trust is stating that it believes this will help keep patients relaxed and assist with their recoveries.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the director of finance for the Trust, Simon Worthington, said:

“The Perkins and Will concept design is very exciting and will create a fantastic landmark for the hospital and the city of Leeds and we are delighted to be working with them to create the new hospitals.”

The hospitals will also feature garden areas with trees and plants, plus plazas on the roofs.
