The Glee Club chain is one of the premier live comedy outlets in the UK. It currently has venues in several cities, including Nottingham, Birmingham and Glasgow. Now, it is aiming to make Leeds the next place that it expands into, and its chosen site is situated right in the heart of the city.
That site happens to be one that has a traditional association with stand-up comedy. It was formerly home to the Leeds branch of the Jongleurs chain of comedy clubs.
If the application is approved, it is bound to be yet another successful venue in the thriving nightlife scene of Leeds, as the Glee Club is able to land top level performers.
Michael McIntyre and Joe Lycett are just two of the household names that have done live sets at these clubs. It could also benefit other local businesses, like graphic design outlets that can help with the creation of advertising Posters.
According to Leeds Live, the owners have stated that:
“The Glee Clubs are a group of live comedy, music and special events venues. They are the home of stand-up comedy, with regular mixed-bill weekend shows and big names on tour with their solo shows.”
