CK Hutchinson Networks is hoping to put up the mast at a spot alongside the Leeds National Express bus terminal. The company states that the mast would address a current gap in the mobile coverage for that part of the city and would enable the provision of 5G for people in the Dyer Street area of Leeds city centre.
According to Leeds Live, the company has submitted a statement to accompany its application, which says that people now expect to be able to connect to the internet on a mobile device from any location.
It then goes on to add that:
“There is currently a hole in the coverage in this area of Leeds, therefore a new site is required to provide the latest 3G, 4G and 5G technology.”
The availability of 5G would not only benefit individuals, but also local businesses such as graphic design firms, as it would make it quicker and easier to share ideas. CK Hutchinson Networks is a telecommunications company that has its main headquarters in Reading.
A decision by the council over planning permission for the mast will be announced at some point later this year.
