Architects sought to design Leeds hospitals

With the news that planning permission has been granted for the building of two brand new Leeds hospitals, architects will be sought out to provide designs.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has secured permission for the construction of a new facility for adult patients, and a hospital for children that will have the very latest cutting-edge equipment. The project to build them is set to take five years to complete, and is being referred to as Hospitals of the Future, with the first stage being to find the right designs for them.

Architecture firms have been given the challenge of coming up with design ideas that will fit the bill in terms of modernity and sustainability, as well as envisioning hospitals that are at the forefront of digital and smart technology. Such firms sometimes use printing services once they have completed their designs.

Speaking to Leeds Live, the Trust chair, Dame Linda Pollard, said:

“It will not only deliver state of the art hospital facilities for our patients and staff but has the potential to make a significant impact on the future economic growth and development of Leeds city and the region.”

The Trust chief executive, Julian Hartley, added that architects up to the task of meeting a challenging brief were needed for what would be a transformative project for patients in the area.
